Koh Tao is blessed with some of Thailand’s most spectacular beaches and bays. Despite it’s popularity among divers, the waters surrounding the island remain crystal clear and ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
Mae Haad Beach The “capital” of Koh Tao, Mae Haad is the most developed area on the island with lots of shops, bars, restaurants, banks and internet shops. Everything you need is located here!
Sairee Beach is the best known of Koh Tao’s beaches and is home to several beach bars, nightspots and some excellent staurants.Always seems to be busy!is the best known of Koh Tao’s beaches and is home to several beach bars, nightspots and some excellent restaurants.Always seems to be busy!
Chalok Ban Khao At the southern tip of the island, Chalok Ban Khao is a beautiful stretch of golden sand and certainly less crowded than Sairee. Longtails are dotted around the bay and can ferry you around the waters.
Haad Thien (“Rocky Bay”) Tao’s best beach, without question. Commonly known as Rocky Bay, the water here is absolutely clear and the beach is lined with coconut palms. Surprisingly uncrowded, probably due to being a fair way from the main town. Perfect!
Ao Leuk On the eastern side, quiet Ao Leuk is a superb spot to relax and find some peace and quiet. The beach is beautiful and the water is ideal for snorkelling but not too good for swimming.
Tanote Bay Lined with huge boulders which give Tanote Bay it’s unique appearance. Just north of Ao Leuk, the conditions here are very similar and taxi-boats can ferry you between the two.
