PADI Dive Master Course

Description

Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational diving begins with the PADI Dive Master Certification program. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, in this program you expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level. PADI Dive Master training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

Prerequisites:

To take this course, you must be:

• 18 years old
• A PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
• A PADI Rescue Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
• An Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (or qualifying first aid and CPR training from another organization) course completion within the past 24 months.
• Have at least 40 dives to begin the course and 60 for certification
• Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement (PDF) signed by a physician within the last 12 months (This can be arranged by us)

What you will learn:

During the whole course we will be regularly going through the dive master book which consists of 9 chapters and knowledge reviews; these will prepare you for a final exam.

The course will be a mixture of academics and practical training skills. Depending on the instructor you are shadowing will depend on what parts of the practical skills you will be completing.

The main body of these skills are what we call the skill circuit which is the 24 open water skills, by the end of your time you will be able to do these skills up to demonstration level.

This is important as a working dive Master will have to be able to run small courses themselves where these skills are required.

Also you will have the opportunity to assist several courses under the direct supervision of an instructor, its a great way of learning through experienced people because you never know, you may even want to become an instructor in the future yourself. There are a few timed swimming tests where will be checking your general ability in the water, as a professional diver you may have to perform dive rescue skills yourself so it is good to see that you are comfortable in the water.

Apart from the there will be some other training regarding refreshing and improving your rescue skills and learning more about search and recovery, mapping, dive leading and briefings etc……

By the end of the course you should have at least 60 logged dives, with the final exam finished and all your practical skills completed and graded you are ready to be certified.

As a dive Master your main job will be leading fun dives and making sure all the logistics of the dive shop are organized, so we will be introducing you to the day to day running of a dive boat.

This in total, depending on how many logged dives you have now, takes approximately 6 weeks but can be done a little shorter (or longer) depending on your planned schedule.
