Often described as the most rewarding course a diver can take, the PADI Rescue Diver certification develops your knowledge and skills so you can effectively perform diver assists and rescues, manage diving accident situations and tend to first aid. This certification is an important step in expanding your knowledge, experience, and confidence as a diver. It is also a prerequisite for any professional level training, so if you’ve already been thinking about your Divemaster or Instructor courses, this one is a must for you. Most students find this course fairly demanding, and while it may not be the easiest course you’ve ever taken, it is likely to be the most gratifying. Many ex-students describe it as the best course they’ve ever taken.
Rescue courses are generally taught over two days, with an additional day for EFR certification if required. Both days cover some important theory and knowledge development. Out in the water, the first day usually comes in the form of a skills session, where you will learn a myriad of new skills and situations, including self-rescue, diver stress, diver panic, underwater problems, emergency management and equipment considerations, missing diver procedures and how to handle an unconscious diver.
On the second day you will be presented with some simulated scenarios, where you get to put your new skills and know-how into practice. Challenging? Yes, but also heaps of fun. We’re sure you’ll love it.
